California governor signs broad data center oversight bill package

Newsom signed seven bills his office calls the most comprehensive data center laws in the nation, covering electricity cost allocation, energy and water reporting, and local oversight. The package directs the CPUC to set rate structures for data centers so grid upgrade costs are not shifted to other ratepayers.
