Developer withdraws rezoning request for controversial data center in Hoffman Estates

Karis Critical withdrew its request to rezone a 186-acre property in Hoffman Estates for a data center after sustained community opposition. The village Plan Commission had voted 4-2 to recommend against the rezoning, and a June 3 public hearing drew residents who packed the three-hour meeting and spilled into the hallway. Residents cited environmental and quality-of-life concerns.
